May 2024: New Collection Release

August 2023 saw the initial release of my work with Design Supply, an amazing interior store and art gallery in Birmingham, Alabama. At the same time, we sold our house in New Orleans, bought a new house, and jumped immediately into a renovation. When 2024 began, I was ready to get back to some normalcy and focus on creating art. This collection is named “Thoughts”, and is a further exploration into painted paper collage. Instead of painting solid pieces of paper, I expanded into abstract paintings onto my collage paper, which were then further ripped up/cut up, and collaged into a new composition. This allowed me to create spontaneous and authentic abstracts without the constraints that tether me when painting directly onto the canvas. The colors blend into one other, change abruptly, some with harsh cut lines, others with gentle tears, still others finished with paint glazes on top. All of these layers of paper with brush stroke and color changes create subtle complexities that cannot be created with paint alone.
